Bellevue’s Gathering Place

After years of growing Cactus Restaurants throughout the Seattle area, brothers Marc and Bret Chatalas saw a rare opportunity: the restaurant space next door to Cactus at Bellevue Square.

Building another Cactus was never the plan.

Instead, they envisioned something different—a restaurant designed specifically for bringing people together.

Not simply a place to eat.

A place to celebrate birthdays, gather after work, watch the game, reconnect with old friends, host company events, enjoy happy hour, and make everyday occasions feel a little more memorable.

That vision became Tavern Hall.

Built Around Gathering

From the beginning, Tavern Hall was designed differently.

Rather than creating another traditional restaurant, we built spaces that encourage conversation, movement, and connection. Open gathering areas, shuffleboard, multiple private event spaces, abundant televisions, and a lively atmosphere allow guests to experience the restaurant however they choose.

Whether you're here with four friends or four hundred guests, the goal is the same: Create an environment where people genuinely enjoy spending time together.

Rethinking Private Events

Private dining has traditionally meant banquet rooms, fixed menus, assigned seating, and formal dinners.

We believed there was a better way.

Tavern Hall was designed to make group gatherings feel more social, more flexible, and far less complicated. Our private event spaces encourage guests to mingle rather than remain seated, while flexible menus, online registration options, and experienced event planning remove much of the stress from organizing large groups.

Today, Tavern Hall has become one of Bellevue's most popular destinations for company events, reunions, celebrations, fundraisers, dance dinners, and large group gatherings because we believe great events should feel effortless to host—and unforgettable to attend.

A Restaurant with Character

To help bring that vision to life, Marc and Bret collaborated with acclaimed Seattle restaurateurs James Weimann and Deming Maclise, whose passion for hospitality, architecture, and memorable restaurant experiences helped shape Tavern Hall's distinctive character.

Rather than decorating the restaurant around a theme, the team built it using authentic architectural pieces collected from around the country and beyond.

Historic church windows. A century-old Philadelphia back bar. A 150-year-old Belgian fireplace. Vintage lighting. Reclaimed architectural artifacts. More than 43,000 pennies embedded in the bar tops.

Every piece has a story.

Together, they create a restaurant that feels warm, authentic, and unlike anywhere else in Bellevue.
